48. Rose window

The church facade features an ornate circular rose window with a Glagolitic inscription from 1405.

This rose window, a work by the proud master stonemason Sinoga of Omišalj, is often used as an emblem of the town of Omišalj. Below rosette is a Glagolitic plaque with a record of the construction of the rosette in 1405. The Glagolitic inscriptions carved in stone record the years of its construction and additional works on the church (1405, in the month of June, this window was done for Mr Martin Glušac). Above the rose window is a figure of a Venetian lion signed by MEŠTR SNG (i.e. master Sinoga) also from 1405.
